Another Day, Another Job-Killing Regulation From the EPA

May 14, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement on the EPA’s recently-announced methane emission regulations:

“The EPA’s latest radical regulation on methane gas emissions will kill more American energy jobs, and are completely unnecessary. Thanks to an increase in technological advancement, methane emissions are lower than ever, even with production at an all-time high. The Obama Administration’s latest attack on the oil and gas industry will only increase the cost of production, making it more expensive for families, and more difficult to drill in the United States, while increasing our dependence on foreign oil. In fact, imposing these regulations may actually drive away investments and discourage innovation for further reduced emissions. This misguided proposal by the EPA doesn’t actually solve any problems—it just makes it harder on the 9.8 million hard-working taxpayers who work in and rely on the energy industry. Along with my colleagues in the House, I will fight back against the EPA’s reckless new mandate so that American taxpayers and small businesses are protected from needless and damaging regulations.”
