Combatting Anti-Semitism in Europe

November 3, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C.— House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued the following statement after the House passed H. Res. 354, which urges the United States and European governments to take action in order to keep Jewish communities safe in the face of rising anti-Semitism in Europe:

“With an alarming uptick in anti-Semitic activity happening across Europe, it’s critical for America to partner with our European allies to combat this bigotry and support the Jewish community groups working to promote peace and prevent violent attacks like those we’ve seen in Paris, Copenhagen, and Brussels,” said Rep. Scalise. "I thank my colleague, Congressman Chris Smith, as well as the other co-Chairs of the House Bipartisan Taskforce for Combating Anti-Semitism, for their leadership in making sure the House stands with Jewish communities throughout the world as we work together to combat anti-Semitism and promote mutual respect and religious liberty."
