Scalise Announces Iran Deal Town Hall

September 1, 2015

METAIRIE, LA. - Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) today announced he will host a town hall at the Jefferson Parish East Bank Council Chamber on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. CT to discuss the Iran Nuclear Agreement. He will be joined by Michael Rubin, an American Enterprise Institute Scholar, and former Pentagon official who specializes in Middle East, Turkey, Iran and diplomacy research.

"Iran must not have the capability to develop a nuclear weapon, yet if Iran fully complies with all the terms of President Obama's Administration's nuclear agreement, they will have the ability to develop a nuclear weapon at the end of the agreement,” Rep. Scalise said. “This dangerous deal with Iran will weaken America's national security, and there is a growing bipartisan consensus across the country to reject it. This bad deal would also give Iran more than $100 billion in sanctions relief that will allow their radical regime to increase its support of global terrorism. Additionally, the deal rolls back the embargo on weapons and ballistic missiles, not to mention the secret side deals that allow Iran to perform their own inspections. These are just a few of the deep concerns I have with this deal. I look forward to hosting this town hall meeting to discuss more details of the President Obama's Administration's deal with Iran, share what I am doing to fight in Congress to defeat it, and to hear your questions and concerns."
