Scalise applauds subcommittee passage of FCC reform bills

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement after the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology unanimously approved the FCC Process Reform Act and Scalise’s FCC Consolidated Reporting Act.

“The FCC Consolidated Reporting Act is another step in the process of streamlining government so that businesses can focus their resources on growing and creating jobs, rather than being burdened by outdated regulations from the federal government,” Scalise said. “Every dollar spent on outdated FCC reporting mandates is a dollar that could be used to create jobs and build our infrastructure. Too often, Congress puts more laws on the books which convolute and distort the rules, and I’m proud to lead this effort to actually eliminate outdated laws and streamline the government.”

Scalise introduced the FCC Consolidated Reporting Act last Congress (H.R. 3310). He has worked with subcommittee staff on both sides of the aisle to build a coalition to pass his bill out of committee today.

The FCC Consolidated Reporting Act would combine eight annual reports into a single biennial Communications Marketplace Report, and repeals the annual Telegraph Report, which was signed into law in 1934.
