Scalise Applauds Supreme Court Blocking Obama's Amnesty

June 23, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C.– House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued the following statement today after the U.S. Supreme Court let stand the lower court’s decision in United States v. Texas, preventing the implementation of the president’s unlawful executive amnesty on immigration:

“Our Supreme Court victory today deals a fatal blow to President Obama’s illegal amnesty agenda. The Supreme Court decision blocking executive amnesty is a victory for the Constitution and the rule of law in our country. Despite the Obama Administration’s lawlessness, our constitution is very clear: only Congress—not the President—can write laws. America’s separation of powers is critical to our democracy, and I am glad the Supreme Court upheld it with this successful ruling.”
