Scalise: Obama’s desperate political speeches won’t make people forget his failed energy policy

March 1, 2012

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement after President Obama’s speech at Nashua Community College. The cost of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline has more than doubled since President Obama took office in January of 2009.

“The American people know that President Obama’s failed energy policy has caused gas prices to skyrocket, and yet another desperate political speech by the President won’t change the fact that hard-working taxpayers are paying more at the pump due to his radical agenda,” Scalise said. “From rejecting the Keystone XL pipeline, to the permitorium in the Gulf of Mexico, to calling for higher taxes on domestic oil, President Obama’s attack on American energy security has left our country more dependent on Middle Eastern oil and has resulted in higher gas prices at the pump. For three years, President Obama has waged a war on American energy, and American families are tired of paying the ‘Obama premium’ every time they fill up their tank.

“We need an all of the above energy strategy that reverses President Obama’s failed policies and instead opens up America’s vast natural resources to exploration so we can create millions of jobs here at home, eliminate our dependence on Middle Eastern oil, and lower gas prices at the pump.”
