Scalise: Obama’s revisionist history a slap in the face to millions losing health care coverage

November 5, 2013

Washington, D.C. - Republican Study Committee Chairman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement after President Obama attempted to walk back his infamous statement that Americans would be able to keep the health care plans they had and liked.

“President Obama’s attempt at revisionist history is a slap in the face to millions of Americans, including at least 80,000 Louisianans, who are losing the health care plan they had and liked because of his failed health care law,” Scalise said. “What the President should have said is 'if Barack Obama likes the health care plan you have, you can keep it.’ American families deserve better than the President's growing list of broken promises; there’s only one way to rescue himself from this serious credibility crisis, and that’s to abandon the penalties set to be imposed on American families and support the legislation we filed to allow Americans to keep the health care plans they have.”
