Scalise Statement on House Passage of the SENSE Act

March 15, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C. - House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today issued the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 3797, the Satisfying Energy Needs and Saving the Environment (SENSE) Act:

“Coal refuse-to-energy facilities and the hard-working men and women that operate them provide an invaluable service to communities all across our country. These specialized power plants provide affordable, reliable energy, along with good paying-jobs. It should come as no surprise, however, that President Obama's EPA has proposed a new set of radical regulations that establish impossible mandates which threaten the continued operation of these power plants. The SENSE Act replaces radical EPA mandates with common-sense regulations for these specialized power plants so they can continue to operate safely and provide power to our communities.”
