Scalise Statement on Net Neutrality Decision

June 14, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today issued the following statement after the D.C. Circuit Court issued its opinion on the FCC’s Net Neutrality rules:

"I am disappointed by today’s court ruling upholding the FCC’s radical Internet regulations. The hallmark of a free and open Internet has been the lack of government regulations to slow it down. This decision overturns that successful light touch regulatory model that has been in place since the beginning of the Internet, replacing it instead with archaic 1930's-era utility regulations.

"Chairman Wheeler claims this is a 'victory for consumers,' but in fact this is a victory for the liberal, Washington-knows-best Wheeler-Obama regulatory agenda.

"More concerning is the green light this ruling will give to President Obama and Chairman Wheeler to continue ramming forward their destructive regulatory agenda in the waning months of this Administration."
