Scalise Statement One Decade After Landfall of Hurricane Katrina

August 29, 2015

METAIRIE, LA. - Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) today released the following statement on the tenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina’s landfall in southeast Louisiana.

“In the ten years since Katrina made landfall, the people of southeast Louisiana have shown the world what it means to persevere in the face of unprecedented loss, to work together to rebuild our communities even stronger than before, and above all to demand better from ourselves and from government,” Rep. Scalise said. “One decade after Katrina, our recovery is a testament to the people of southeast Louisiana, who have shown the world how incredibly strong and resilient we are. As we reach this important milestone, we remember each and every life that was lost, we celebrate our unique way of life, and we look toward a brighter and hopeful future together.”
