Scalise statement on the tragedy in Libya

September 12, 2012

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Steve Scalise today released the following statement regarding the attack in Libya last night.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the American diplomats who were killed in this tragic attack in Libya, and their families,” Scalise said. “Just 11 years after the September 11th attacks, this tragedy is a harsh reminder of the constant threats to our freedoms by Islamic extremists throughout the world. President Obama needs to take swift action to address these attacks on American embassies. We cannot, and we will not, turn a blind eye to the threats facing our nation, and we cannot allow radical acts of violence to go unanswered.

“America is the beacon of hope and freedom for the rest of the world, and our light of freedom will never be snuffed out by those who carry out terror and violence over freedom and democracy. May God bless the brave men and women serving and defending our nation at home and abroad, and may God bless the United States of America.”
