Scalise On WWLTV: It Is Time To Lift The Ban On Crude Oil Exports

METAIRIE, LA. - Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) today joined Eyewitness Morning News on WWLTV in New Orleans to discuss the importance of lifting the crude oil export ban for Louisiana’s jobs and economy. As House Majority Whip, this evening Congressman Scalise will begin to gather support for legislation to lift the ban.

“More Members of Congress have been focusing on the fact that there's a ban on exporting oil…there's such a surplus and they are shutting down wells across the country. Half of the rigs operating today, thousands have been laid off and the price is down around $50.”

“More people can go back to work if we allow for the export of this global commodity.”

“The impact you would see [if the ban is lifted] would be increased jobs all around south Louisiana.”

“Tonight when we go back to Washington, we will be asking where all the Members of the House stand on the ban… We're asking for Members of Congress to take a position and hopefully move legislation by the end of the year.”
