Congress Passes Coronavirus Bill to Assist Response Efforts

March 4, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed $8.3 billion in emergency supplemental appropriations to assist President Trump's response to Coronavirus:

"This is not a time for political games. I'm glad Congress pulled together to pass a clean, bipartisan funding bill to assist the Trump Administration's response to the Coronavirus. Americans want a vaccine. Hospitals need test kits. Small businesses need help. Our bill will accelerate those efforts and greatly increase our capabilities in fighting this virus.

"I applaud Vice President Mike Pence's leadership in bringing together our health policy experts to address this crisis. I am praying for the families already affected by the virus and I want to thank our incredible health care workers on the front line of this outbreak."
