The HEAT Report
The HEAT Report is a weekly newsletter focusing on how members of the House Energy Action Team (HEAT) promote American energy security, and an all-of-the-above energy economy.
The Latest:
Last week, President Biden announced his Administration will begin tapping one million barrels of oil per day from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) in an effort to combat his own self-created energy crisis.
That's no joke — instead of addressing this crisis by unleashing American oil and gas production, the Biden Administration is releasing oil from the SPR for the third time in the past several months.
This move comes on top of President Biden unveiling his staggering $5.8 trillion budget request for Fiscal Year 2023, which includes $2.5 trillion in new or increased taxes with $45 billion in new taxes on domestic energy production to advance his radical, far-left climate agenda that has helped fuel the highest inflation numbers this country has seen in 40 years.
To make matters worse, the American Petroleum Institute and the National Ocean Industries Association released a new report detailing the disastrous consequences of the Interior Department delaying its 5-year program for offshore energy leasing in the Gulf of Mexico. This delay could cause a drop in production of nearly 500,000 fewer barrels per day and a loss of $1.5 billion per year in government revenue.
Instead of waging war on American energy and ceding our energy security to dictators like Vladimir Putin, President Biden should turn to America's energy producers, open up exploration, and unleash our energy potential to regain America's energy independence.
This Week's HEAT Member Highlights:
House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) joined Fox Business Network's Maria Bartiromo's Wall Street to discuss President Biden's decision to release millions of barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in an attempt to counter his Administration's self-created energy crisis.
HEAT Co-Chair Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) penned a column for the Congressional Western Caucus's new blog, "Branded," on the need to revamp and deregulate the pipeline permitting process.
Western Caucus Chairman Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.) and Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-Minn.) introduced the Gas Prices Relief Act to protect Americans from President Biden's anti-American energy agenda. Rep. Newhouse also led a letter to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm expressing concerns about her delay in implementing a national uranium reserve.
Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) and several Republican colleagues introduced six bills that will unleash America's domestic energy potential, restart onshore and offshore lease sales and require the timely issuance of permits to drill.
Representative Gus Bilirakis (R-Fla.) penned an op-ed in The Floridian urging the Biden Administration to use America's vast energy resources to counter record-high gas prices and soaring inflation caused by President Biden's job-killing energy policies.
Representative Pete Stauber (R-Minn.) introduced bipartisan legislation to ban uranium imports from Russia. Rep. Stauber also questioned the Interior Department's Deputy Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals on why the Biden Administration still stands in the way of onshore and offshore oil and gas development at a Natural Resources Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources hearing.
In a speech on the House Floor, Representative Fred Keller (R-Pa.) amplified the growing concern among Americans over the rising cost of energy in the United States.

Representative Clay Higgins (R-La.) co-sponsored the Small Scale LNG Access Act, which would expedite the approval of U.S. natural gas exports up to and including 51.75 billion cubic feet per year.
Representative John Joyce (R-Pa.) spoke on the House Floor about the skyrocketing cost of gas prices and noted that hardworking Americans are paying the price because of President Biden's policy failures.
Representative Bob Latta (R-Ohio) released a statement on President Biden announcing the release of one million barrels of oil per day from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

The Response on Social Media:
House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) called out Speaker Pelosi for admitting Congressional Democrats understand that hardworking Americans cannot afford skyrocketing gas prices but continue to gaslight the public with their radical Green New Deal policies.
HEAT Co-Chair Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) blasted President Biden for waging war on American energy since his first day in office. Americans cannot afford President Biden's America-last polices that have caused gas prices to consistently increase each month of his presidency. Rep. Duncan also criticized the Biden Administration for tapping into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. This is not the solution to the energy crisis and covers up President Biden's self-imposed energy crisis and war on American energy. The solution to lowering energy costs for Americans is to unleash domestic energy production.
Representative Tim Walberg (R-Mich.) called out President Biden's ineffective decision to tap into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
Representative Gus Bilirakis (R-Fla.) criticized Congressional Democrats for blocking measures to boost domestic energy production. Rep. Bilirakis also warned that his constituents can't afford the projected $2,000 per year increase in gas prices that American families are expected to face.
Representative Stephanie Bice (R-Okla.) called on the Biden Administration to unleash the full potential of American energy instead of tapping into U.S. oil reserves.
Representative Morgan Griffith (R-Va.) slammed President Biden's budget for proposing to raise taxes on domestic energy production at a time of surging consumer costs.
Representative Clay Higgins (R-La.) criticized President Biden's move to use the Strategic Petroleum Reserve for short-term political gain.
Representative French Hill (R-Ark.) pointed out that the Biden Administration is choosing not to boost energy production levels because it wants to appease the radical left through a Green New Deal agenda.
