The HEAT Report

April 11, 2022

The HEAT Report is a weekly newsletter focusing on how members of the House Energy Action Team (HEAT) promote American energy security, and an all-of-the-above energy economy.

The Latest:

Last week, House Republicans exposed President Biden's blame game for sky-high gas prices and erosion of America's energy security at an Energy and Commerce Subcommittee hearing on the pain hardworking Americans are feeling at the pump.

Republicans condemned President Biden for his anti-American energy policies, which have decimated U.S. energy production since his Administration began implementing them on Day One.

Though President Biden has attempted to shift blame onto Vladimir Putin and American energy producers, Republicans pointed out that gas prices started rising long before Putin invaded Ukraine. Gas prices began rising after President Biden killed the Keystone XL pipeline, green-lit Russia's Nord Stream 2 pipeline, canceled offshore oil and gas leasing, and issued mountains of regulations against energy producers, making it harder for them to drill.

With gas prices now at record-high levels, President Biden could open up the spigots here in America, but instead he's begging foreign dictators in Russia, Iran, and Venezuela to produce more oil.

The U.S. produces cleaner energy than anywhere else in the world. President Biden should stop his all-out assault on America's energy producers and turn to them to help unleash our energy potential.

This Week's HEAT Member Highlights:

House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) spoke at an Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations hearing about how President Biden's continued assault on American energy has caused the price of gasoline to soar to record levels. Whip Scalise called out President Biden and Congressional Democrats for attempting to shift the blame for skyrocketing gas prices onto Vladimir Putin and American energy producers despite the fact that it has been the Biden Administration's extreme climate agenda and inflationary policies that have caused energy prices to increase.

HEAT Co-Chair Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) spoke at a House Republican Leadership press conference on President Biden's gas price hike. The United States is blessed with natural resources but is cursed with liberal politicians who enact America-last energy polices, causing Americans pain at the pump. Rep. Duncan also attended the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee hearing with oil and gas executives and explained that the record-high gas prices Americans are experiencing are the result of President Biden's war on American energy. The solution is to unleash domestic energy production, and House Republicans are united in pushing to achieve energy independence.
