Pelosi Plays Politics with Prescription Drug Prices

December 12, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement after House Democrats voted down H.R. 19, The Lower Costs, More Cures Act, and instead passed H.R. 3, the Fewer Cures and More Government Price Control Act:

"Today was a disaster for every American struggling to pay for their prescription medicines. Given the choice between a partisan drug plan that can never become law, and a bipartisan prescription drug bill that could be on the President's desk this week, radical Democrats chose Pelosi's partisan drug plan.

"The American people want a bipartisan solution to this pressing problem, not another messaging bill from progressives. We can still forge a consensus on prescription drug costs if Democrats quit with their partisanship and come to their senses. I call on Speaker Pelosi to halt all House Floor action on impeachment until we pass a bipartisan, realistic plan to lower prescription drug costs for American seniors and families."
