Pelosi's Worthless Delay

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement after Speaker Pelosi announced she will transmit the articles of impeachment against President Trump to the Senate next week:

"Speaker Pelosi described impeachment as an ‘urgent' matter, yet withheld the articles of impeachment from the Senate for weeks, demanding that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell assist in completing House Democrats' sloppy handiwork. Speaker Pelosi's cynicism and hypocrisy has done irreparable damage to our democracy.

"While House Democrats impeached President Trump on the thinnest and most nakedly partisan basis in history, I have full confidence in the Senate's ability to conduct a swift and fair trial. I look forward to President Trump being exonerated of the baseless claims against him."
