Scalise Announces 2019 Congressional App Challenge Winner
WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today announced the 2019 Congressional App Challenge winner for Louisiana’s First Congressional District. This year’s winner, Jakob Wismar from Haynes Academy, took home the prize. Jakob created “ISS Search – Space Station Tracker,” an app that allows you to easily track the International Space Station.
Whip Scalise said:
“Congratulations to Jakob Wismar from Haynes Academy in Kenner, Louisiana for winning the 2019 Congressional App Challenge for Louisiana’s First Congressional District! As a former software engineer, I am proud to see students in Southeast Louisiana pursue an interest in technology and the applied sciences to provide innovative opportunities that may not be available otherwise.
“It’s critical to ensure that we preserve America’s superiority and involvement in space exploration, and Jakob’s app makes it easier for anyone with an interest in learning more about the International Space Station an opportunity to engage in our country’s space program.
“I applaud Jakob for his creativity and hard work, and commend Haynes Academy for their investment in encouraging students to embrace computer science and technological education.”
