WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) applauded the announcement of the groundbreaking of the Houma Navigation Canal (HNC) Lock Complex and the completion of the Grand Bayou Floodgate.

Whip Scalise toured the Grand Bayou Floodgate in August with local officials to view progress on its construction and hear from officials regarding their coastal protection needs.

“Yesterday’s news announcing the groundbreaking of the Houma Navigation Canal (HNC) Lock Complex and the completion of the Grand Bayou Floodgate will benefit the many families and businesses who call South Louisiana home. Both the HNC Lock Complex and the Grand Bayou Floodgate are important projects in completing the larger Morganza-to-the-Gulf flood protection project. Morganza-to-the-Gulf has long been one of my top priorities in Congress. Last year, I fought to secure federal funding for the Morganza-to-the-Gulf project for the first time. I will continue working to ensure the Morganza project receives all the resources needed for its completion,” said Republican Whip Steve Scalise.
