Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) joined the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans today for a discussion on issues impacting local and national Jewish communities, including the growing incidences of anti-Semitic rhetoric and violence across the country.

The meeting emphasized the necessity to establish and strengthen resources that will provide increased security at local synagogues. The discussion also focused on how leaders at the local, state, and federal level can come together to address the growing security concerns at synagogues across the country and prevent violence against individuals of all faiths.

“I was honored to join the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans for a candid conversation about how all of us as community leaders can stand up against hate and bigotry in all its forms. This growing wave of anti-Semitism is a major concern of mine, and I will continue fighting in Congress to stand against all forms of hateful rhetoric and violence targeted against people based on their religious beliefs, said Whip Scalise."

"We are very appreciative of Congressman Scalise's assistance as it relates to the vital areas of combating anti-Semitism and providing security for our synagogues, schools and other Jewish institutions," said Arnie D. Fielkow, CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans. "We look forward to continuing to work closely with federal, state, and local lawmakers and officials to enhance funding mechanisms related to these topics, as well as the implementation of legislation which will advance the interests of our entire community."
