Scalise Office Assistance on Afghanistan Evacuation
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement regarding his office’s efforts to facilitate getting information on Americans stranded in Afghanistan to the State Department:
“President Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan has resulted in thousands of Americans being abandoned behind enemy lines, and all efforts need to be focused on getting them home safely as quickly as possible. I urge the Biden Administration to make it a top priority to provide safe passage for all Americans attempting to reach the airport in Kabul so they can safely get out of the country. If you’re an American citizen stuck in Afghanistan or know of anyone stranded, please contact my office at (504) 837-1259. We will do everything we can to help those left behind in Afghanistan, and we will continue to gather information and push the State Department to evacuate our citizens who have been abandoned behind enemy lines, as well as those who assisted our military in their mission.”
