Scalise Promotes Funding for NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility

WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement after securing passage of his amendment that directs funding to NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans:

"NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility has been a key component to our country's space program going back to the Apollo Mission. Now, as we embark upon a new, ambitious mission to Mars, we need to ensure that while we are continuing to invest billions of dollars in the critical equipment and technology that will take our astronauts back into space, it is also important that we invest in the facilities like Michoud where that equipment will be built.

"With passage of my amendment today, the House clearly expressed its support for properly maintaining facilities like Michoud, and the powerful technology being developed there that will continue playing a vital role in America's future space exploration."
