"Anything that life throws at the people of St. Bernard [Parish] — they're tough people, and they come back. Everybody here was in good spirits. People here [have] been through a lot. You're in South Louisiana, you've already been through a lot, and you see the resilience in people. It's just amazing. They need help. They want support, but they're tough, and they're already planning to come back."

"We're talking with FEMA. They're looking at what kind of things we would qualify for. In the meantime, the state's already offered a lot of immediate help using some other federal dollars that were available too. Everybody's pulling together, and they were already out cleaning up and doing the debris removal."
