Congressman Scalise Announces Theme for 2011 Congressional Art Competition: “Gulf Seafood: The Taste of Louisiana”

March 10, 2011

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that his office will participate in the annual Congressional Art Competition for high school students. The theme for this year’s competition is “Gulf Seafood: The Taste of Louisiana.”

“This contest is a great way to showcase the talent of the First District, and will showcase our wonderful Louisiana Seafood,” Scalise said. “I look forward to viewing the artwork, and encourage each school in the district to participate.”

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982, and has given hundreds of thousands of high school students from across America the opportunity to share their talents. Artwork for the 2011 competition is due to any of Scalise’s district offices by April 29. The artwork will then be judged, and a public exhibition of all students’ artwork will take place in early May. The contest winners will have their work displayed for one year. The finalists work will be displayed in one of Scalise’s district offices and the grand prize winner will have their work displayed in the U.S. Capitol.
