Congressman Scalise Congratulates Cao, Fleming

December 8, 2008

Washington, DC -- Congressman Scalise, who introduced Anh “Joseph” Cao on Saturday night before he gave his victory speech, made that following comments.

“This is a monumental win and Congressman-elect Cao's victory sent shock
waves across the country. Cao is a great example of the ‘American dream.’ He fled Vietnam as a boy in search of a better life. Now he is the first Vietnamese-American in our country’s history to be elected to Congress. It's nice to see Louisiana be first in something so positive,” Scalise said. “Cao’s election is another sign that the people of New Orleans are demanding reforms after Katrina. Cao not only stands for government reform, especially on issues like levees, but his election also represents the ethics reforms people are demanding from our elected officials.”

Scalise also congratulates Congressman-elect Dr. John Fleming on his victory in Louisiana’s 4th Congressional District.

“Congressman-elect Fleming will be a great addition to the Louisiana delegation. He’ll bring a strong voice for Louisiana businesses and our families,” Scalise said. “We need more good people with Dr. Fleming’s conservative values and I look forward to serving with him.”
