Empowering Patients with Choice and Control

July 25, 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement after House passage of H.R. 6311, Increasing Access to Lower Premium Plans and Expanding Health Savings Accounts of 2018, and H.R. 6199, Restoring Access to Medication and Modernizing Health Savings Accounts Act of 2018.

“Health Savings Accounts are proven and effective tools for lowering health care costs and increasing choices for all Americans. In fact, even without a government mandate, more than twice as many Americans choose to participate in HSA’s as there are people who purchase Obamacare. Expanding this well-liked program will allow more people to take advantage of these personal saving accounts, and use those funds in more ways to improve their overall health. As health care spending continues to balloon in this country, I'm proud to see us pass a bill through the House that will cut costs and give more power and control to families," said Whip Scalise.
