Empowering Sportsmen, Protecting Fisheries
WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement after the House voted 350-11 to pass S. 1520, the Modern Fish Act:
"In Louisiana fishing is part of our way of life, and protecting this natural resource is essential to our culture and our economy. The Modern Fish Act, which passed the House with a strong, bipartisan vote, includes essential reforms to ensure the health of Louisiana's fisheries. This bill empowers sportsmen and state leaders in the management of coastal fisheries by promoting their input in improved data collection systems at the federal level. I look forward to the President signing this legislation into law."
