Holding the EPA Accountable

WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La) today issued the following statement following passage of H.R. 4775, the Ozone Standards Implementation Act of 2016:

“Radical mandates from bureaucrats in Washington are killing jobs and holding back our economy. The latest round of EPA ozone mandates will make it even harder for small businesses to grow and for hard-working families to make ends meet. If allowed to proceed, these unworkable rules will ultimately eliminate tens of thousands of jobs and impose billions of dollars of compliance costs that will be passed directly on to families. That is why the Ozone Standards Implementation Act is so important. This bill brings critical transparency and accountability to an agency that lacks both. House Republicans will not stand by while unelected bureaucrats at the EPA wage war on American jobs and reduce our quality of life.”

Congressman Scalise was an original cosponsor of H.R. 4775. The bill includes language from Rep. Scalise's Promoting New Manufacturing Act, which passed the House of Representatives last Congress.
