Scalise Announces 2014 Congressional Art Competition

March 14, 2014

Washington, DC – Congressman Steve Scalise today invited high-school artists from Louisiana’s First Congressional District to participate in the 2014 Congressional Art Competition. The theme for the 2014 contest is “Louisiana through my eyes.” All artwork is due by April 30, 2014 and can be submitted to any of Scalise’s Congressional office locations.

“Louisiana is home to many talented artists, but perhaps none more renowned than the late George Rodrigue and his nationally recognized paintings of Louisiana culture highlighted by his famed Blue Dog,” Scalise said. “Louisiana’s vibrant culture, unique landscape, and outgoing people present limitless potential for artists to explore. I look forward to seeing the great renditions of Louisiana from the next generation of local artists.”

Artists must fill out and submit a student information and release form along with the artwork. The original piece of art must not exceed 28” high x 28” wide x 4” deep and weigh no more than 15 pounds. Additional rules and details can be found on the official Congressional Art Competition website.
