Scalise Announces 2015 Congressional Art Competition Theme for LA-01
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) today announced the theme for Louisiana’s First Congressional District's participation in the national Congressional Art Competition for high school students. This year’s theme is “Louisiana: The Place I Call Home.”
“Louisiana’s one-of-a-kind culture, vibrant wetlands, unique architecture, diverse heritage and unmatched cuisine are just some of the distinct staples that make me proud to call our state home,” Rep. Scalise said. “Louisianans have a lot to celebrate, which is why it is no surprise that Louisiana was named the happiest state in 2014. I look forward to seeing why the young artists in my district are proud to call this place home too.”
All artwork must be submitted no later than Friday, April 24, 2015, to my Hammond, Houma, Mandeville, or Metairie offices. Entries will then be judged and a winner will be announced in early May. The winning student will be invited along with a guest to Washington, D.C., to view their artwork hanging in the U.S. Capitol and participate in a reception with fellow award winners.
High school artists must fill out and submit this release form along with the artwork. All works, including frame, should be no larger than 28 inches high, 28 inches wide, and 4 inches deep, and 15 lbs. in weight. Additional rules and details can be found here.
