Scalise Announces 2015 Congressional Art Competition Winner
METAIRIE, LA. - Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) today announced Theresa Sevier from Houma as the winner of Scalise's annual Congressional Art Competition. “Louisiana: The Place I Call Home,” was the theme for the 2015 contest and Theresa’s winning piece is named “A Place Made Home.”
“As Louisiana celebrates 203 years of statehood, these 17 young artists have all done a tremendous job of showcasing our state’s vibrant culture and beautiful landscapes,” Rep. Scalise said. “These young artists' love of our state shines through in their work, and reminds us all how blessed we are to be from Louisiana. I want to personally thank all of the artists for participating in this competition, and wish congratulations to Theresa, whose artwork perfectly captures the theme of this year's contest: ‘Louisiana: The Place I Call Home.’"
Theresa’s artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside other winning pieces of art from across the country. The final results are as follows:
