Scalise Announces 2015 Offshore Energy Tour

April 1, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) today announced he will lead a bipartisan Congressional Delegation on his annual Offshore Energy Tour to an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico's Outer Continental Shelf on April 9th and 10th. A press conference recapping the tour will take place on April 10th at 11:15 a.m. CST.

This year, Rep. Scalise will be joined by:

  • Rep. Larry Bucshon (R-Ind.)
  • Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.)
  • Rep. Paul Cook (R-Calif.)
  • Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.)
  • Rep. Gene Green (D-Texas)
  • Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.)
  • Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Mich.)
  • Rep. Mimi Walters (R-Calif.)
  • Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-Mont.)

“The 2015 Offshore Energy Tour will provide this diverse, bipartisan group of my colleagues with a better understanding of offshore energy production, which involves cutting-edge technologies, unparalleled safety standards, and world-renowned ingenuity in implementing these large-scale projects,” Rep. Scalise said. “It is always important to bring Members of Congress to southeast Louisiana to see first-hand how energy is produced in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, along with the good jobs and energy security that go along with it. In addition to touring a Deepwater rig in the Gulf, these Members of Congress from around the country will also meet with energy industry leaders, learn more about Louisiana's coastal erosion and better understand how oil revenue sharing will be used to restore our vanishing coastline.

“Experiencing offshore energy production is an incredible opportunity, and I am honored to lead these Members on our seventh annual Offshore Energy Tour. American offshore energy production is a crucial part of an all-of-the-above national energy strategy that I fight for daily in Congress, despite President Obama's anti-fossil fuel agenda.”

While on the tour, the bipartisan Congressional Delegation will tour an offshore oil rig, participate in an aerial tour of the Louisiana coast, take part in an energy roundtable discussion with local energy industry leaders, visit Port Fourchon, which services more than 90 percent of all Gulf of Mexico deepwater projects, and recap the tour at a press conference at Atlantic Aviation in Kenner, Louisiana.
