Scalise Announces Four New Hires and One Promotion
Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced the hiring of four new staff members and one promotion in his Washington, DC office.
Brett Horton, a native of West Monroe, La., has been hired as Legislative Counsel. Horton is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in Political Science and Loyola Law School where he received his juris doctorate in civil law. Prior to joining Scalise’s staff, Horton served on the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship in Washington, D.C., and practiced with the Loyola University Law Clinic in New Orleans. Horton advises the congressman on issues including: appropriations, spending, tax, financial services, housing, small business, judiciary, social security, education, and labor.
Andrew Reuther, also of West Monroe, La., has been hired as Legislative Correspondent after graduating from Mississippi College with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in History. Prior to joining Scalise’s staff, Reuther interned in the offices of Congressmen Rodney Alexander, Pete Sessions and Adrian Smith.
Joe Uddo has been hired as Staff Assistant. Uddo is a Metairie, La. native, and a graduate of Louisiana Tech University where he earned a degree in History. Prior to joining the team, Uddo worked as a staffer and volunteer on several campaigns throughout Louisiana.
Julia d’Hemecourt has been hired as Press Assistant. An Abita Springs, La. native, d’Hemecourt worked at Peter Mayer Advertising in New Orleans before joining Scalise’s staff. D’Hemecourt graduated from the University of New Orleans with degrees in Communications and Art History, and the University of Texas with a master’s degree in Advertising.
Emily Wauford has been promoted from Legislative Correspondent to Legislative Assistant. Wauford advises the congressman on issues including: agriculture, immigration, military and defense, homeland security, foreign affairs, postal issues, and veteran’s affairs. Before joining Scalise’s staff Wauford interned in Congressman Eric Cantor’s office.
