WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement applauding the Louisiana Department of Education for receiving a $1,889,650 grant from the U.S. Department of Education, which will go towards increasing the “national understanding of the charter school model and to expand the number of high-quality charter schools available to students across the Nation.”

“Louisiana’s high-quality charter schools are a national model for public education reform, and they continue to yield incredible results for the students of our state,” Rep Scalise said. “These beacons of hope are providing great educational opportunities for students and parents all across Louisiana, and this hard-earned grant will contribute to the educational successes we have achieved here at home. I am confident that this effort, along with the hard work and dedication from our local leaders, will not only promote innovation, flexibility, and choice in our schools, but also protect and expand our state's charter schools so that all students in Louisiana  have an equal opportunity to receive a quality education.”
