Scalise applauds House holding Lerner in contempt of Congress
May 7, 2014
Washington, D.C. – Republican Study Committee Chairman Steve Scalise released the following statement after the House held former Internal Revenue Service (IRS) official Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena issued by the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
“Make no mistake, former IRS official Lois Lerner abused her position by using the heavy hand of the IRS to target certain civic groups, and then refused to answer for her actions,” Scalise said. “I applaud the efforts of Chairman Issa and his committee as they continue to hold this Administration accountable for targeting American citizens based on their political views.”
