Scalise blasts Sen. Landrieu’s support for Suh
March 27, 2014
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement regardingSenate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Mary Landrieu’s support for Rhea Suh to serve at the Interior Department.
“By siding with President Obama's radical anti-drilling pick for a powerful Department of Interior post, Senator Landrieu failed her first test as Chair of the Senate Energy Committee,” Scalise said. “What good is the gavel of a powerful Senate committee if it is used to harm Louisiana's energy industry by approving a nominee who proudly tries to destroy oil and gas jobs? It is very disappointing that Senator Landrieu’s first major action as Energy Chair was to prove herself ‘indispensable’ to Barack Obama's anti-drilling agenda rather than Louisiana's energy workers. As Vice Chairman of the House Energy Subcommittee, I have been working hard with my colleagues in the House to reverse the damage done to our economy by radical policies like President Obama's drilling moratorium in the Gulf, which was supported by Rhea Suh."
