Scalise Congratulates LA-01 2015 National Blue Ribbon Schools

September 29, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) today commended two schools in Louisiana’s First Congressional District for being recognized as 2015 National Blue Ribbon Schools.

“The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program was established by President Ronald Reagan to recognize schools whose teachers and students achieved academic excellence, and it is important that we recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of schools whose teachers and students demonstrate excellence in education,” Rep. Scalise said. “I applaud the hard work and dedication of the teachers, administrators and students who earned this honorable distinction.”

The schools in Louisiana’s First Congressional District that received the 2015 National Blue Ribbon Award are:

  • Pointe-Aux-Chenes Elementary School of Montegut, Louisiana
  • St. Paul's School of Covington, Louisiana

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program was created in 1982 and is administered by the U.S. Department of Education. The program recognizes both public and private schools, K-12, for overall academic achievement and excellence in education.
