Scalise: Eight Service Academy Nominees Receive Appointments

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced the appointment of eight of his nominees to U.S. Service Academies.

“Our service academies provide next generation’s leaders with the world’s finest military training and an excellent post-secondary education,” Scalise said. “These students represent some of the brightest in their communities, and are true American patriots. I am confident they will represent Louisiana with dignity in our Military Service Academies, and I am proud to have nominated them for these posts.”

The following students were offered appointments to a Military Service Academy, and upon acceptance of the offer, will start in July.

United States Air Force Academy
• Josue Breaux (St. Paul’s High School) of Covington
• Nichole Freeman (Mandeville High School) of Mandeville
• Elijah Levee (Mandeville High School) of Mandeville

United States Merchant Marine Academy
• David Mahoney (Jesuit High School) of Metairie

United States Military Academy (West Point)
• Blake Ridley (St. Martin’s Episcopal School) of Metairie
• Jeffrey Rush (Mandeville High School) of Mandeville
• Gregory Williams (Ridgewood Prep School) of Metairie

United States Naval Academy
• Sean Reilly (Mandeville High School) of Mandeville

High school students interested in applying to a service academy should request a nomination application during the spring/summer of their junior year in high school. The applications are due in Congressman Scalise’s office by October 28th of their senior year.
