Scalise to Give Commencement Speech at Southeastern Louisiana University – May 16
Hammond -- Congressman Steve Scalise will deliver the Commencement Speech for the Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU) Graduating Class of 2009 tomorrow, Saturday, May 16.

“I will encourage the Southeastern graduates to stay in Louisiana and get involved in their communities as they begin their careers,” Scalise said. “Their energy and talents can help us continue to reform our great state. It is inspiring to speak to these graduates who are our best and brightest and represent Louisiana’s future.”
Congressman Scalise will address more than 1,100 students receiving associate, bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees. In Congress, Scalise represents Tangipahoa Parish where Southeastern Louisiana University’s campus is located.
Scalise graduated from Louisiana State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and minored in Political Science.
