Scalise to Host Flood Protection Site Visits/Briefing in St. Tammany
Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise is bringing Congressman John Boozman (R-AR) to Louisiana today to get a first hand look at flood protection and hurricane recovery projects. Scalise will be hosting site visits at the W-14 and Schneider’s Canal projects in Slidell as well as briefings on those and other flood protection projects.
“Representative Boozman will be very influential in working to get our flood protection projects authorized when his subcommittee takes up the Water Resources and Development Act later this year,” Scalise said. "I will continue to fight for stronger flood protection and drainage projects for Southeast Louisiana including stronger levee protection in Slidell, the outfall canals in Jefferson and Orleans Parishes as well as many other projects.”
Congressman Boozman is the Ranking Member of the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in the House. Boozman’s subcommittee will be marking up the Water Resources and Development Act (WRDA) of 2010 this year. If projects are authorized under WRDA, they would then become eligible for federal support.
Scalise and Boozman will be joined by Army Corps of Engineers Col. Al Lee, St. Tammany Parish President Kevin Davis, director of the Governor's Office of Coastal Activities Garret Graves, and other Local Elected Officials.
