Scalise to Host Oil Spill Town Hall Tuesday, June 8 in Metairie

June 3, 2010

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise will hold an oil spill town hall on Tuesday, June 8 at American Legion Post 175 in Metairie.

At the town hall, Scalise will discuss the oil spill catastrophe, the federal response to the disaster and the road ahead for Louisiana.

"I am disappointed that oil continues to leak from the well and that we're still not experiencing an adequate response to this disaster," Scalise said. “Immediate and swift action must be taken by the President to save our fragile ecosystem, and we cannot afford to sit idle while our marsh and seafood beds are destroyed. I look forward to talking to residents about the impact of the oil spill and hearing the views of people throughout southeast Louisiana and industry experts at this town hall meeting.”

During the town hall Scalise will also host an open discussion on America Speaking Out, a new effort to engage Americans and give them a voice in creating a new agenda for Congress.
