Scalise: Over $213,000 in grants for Two Tangipahoa Parish Fire Departments

January 28, 2010

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded a $52,051 grant to the Roseland Volunteer Fire Department, and a $161,500 grant to the Natalbany Volunteer Fire Department.

“This funding will help these fire departments obtain critical resources to protect our communities,” Scalise said. “Our fire fighters are always on call and it is important that they have the best equipment when responding to emergencies.”

The Natalbany and Roseland Volunteer Fire Departments will receive the funding as part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program. The funding may be used for training, equipment, wellness and fitness, and health and safety modifications to stations and facilities.
