Scalise Slams Obama Administration With Anti-Carbon Tax Resolution
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) has introduced a resolution calling the implementation of a federal tax on carbon dioxide released from burning fossil fuels by the Obama Administration a severe detriment to America’s economy and job creation.
“A national energy tax would force Americans to pay higher prices for goods and services of all kinds. It would mean higher electricity bills, increased prices at the pump, and fewer jobs for hard-working taxpayers,” Rep. Scalise said. “Our nation has had more than enough of the job-killing regulations coming from the Obama Administration, and the last thing we need is yet another tax burden that weakens America's economy. This resolution puts Congress on record, declaring that a carbon tax would be the equivalent of a ‘nail in the coffin’ to a struggling American economy. Implementation of a carbon tax would provide further evidence that President Obama is pursuing his job-killing global warming agenda at any cost, and the people’s House will not stand for his radical scheme.”
