Scalise: State Department agrees, it's time to pick up the pen and green-light keystone

January 31, 2014

Washington, DC – Congressman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement after the State Department today released their long-awaited environmental impact statement on the Keystone XL Project.

“After five long years, today’s report is another strong piece of evidence proving that the Keystone XL pipeline should be green-lighted immediately,” Scalise said. “The latest State Department report backs up what we have been saying for years – it is long past time for President Obama to pick up his pen and approve the Keystone pipeline right now. The President pledged to make 2014 a year of action, and approving this project is the perfect opportunity for him to follow through on that promise. It's time for President Obama to end the divisive speeches and quickly take decisive action to create 20,000 jobs and promote American energy security by finally approving the Keystone XL pipeline.”
