Scalise Statement On Flooding In St. Tammany And Tangipahoa Parishes

METAIRIE, LA- Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement today after the President declared that a major disaster exists in the State of Louisiana due to the severe storms and historic flood levels.

"My staff and I remain in close coordination with state and local emergency officials as we help respond to the record flooding in St. Tammany and Tangipahoa parishes,” Rep. Scalise said. “We are in contact with FEMA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and they are prepared to help our local leaders, who have been working tirelessly, to respond to this disaster. I have also met with St. Tammany Parish President Pat Brister, and have been in touch with Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller to offer any federal help they need. The people of southeast Louisiana are strong and resilient, and we will recover from this disaster."
