Scalise statement on House vote to fund the FDA

October 7, 2013

Washington, DC – Republican Study Committee Chairman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement after House Republicans voted to fund the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

“I’m proud to support this bipartisan bill to fund the FDA and ensure that food and drug safety remains a top priority despite President Obama’s government shutdown,” Scalise said. “Clearly there are some differences between the House, the President, and the Senate, but we should at least fund those parts of the government where we can agree while we negotiate our differences on the remaining items. This weekend, Democrats in the House joined with us by voting unanimously to pay furloughed federal workers. It’s disappointing they’re not as concerned with funding our veterans, the FDA, the NIH, and other essential programs.”
