Scalise Statement On Passage of Budget

WASHINGTON, D.C.— HouseMajority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement applauding the House's passage of the FY 2018 Budget:

“Today, the House took a crucial step towards pro-growth tax reform by passing our conservative, fiscally responsible budget. Not only does our budget balance, passing it is necessary to achieving the tax reforms our nation so badly needs to grow our economy and create jobs. For far too long, our families and businesses have had to spend countless hours and costs just to fill out a tax return under our burdensome, complex system. With the simplification we will deliver, Americans will be able to save time and money by filling out their tax returns on a postcard. Most importantly, they will be able to keep more of their paychecks instead of sending it to bureaucrats in Washington. American businesses are subject to the highest tax rates in the world, giving other countries like China an unfair advantage in the global marketplace. Under our plan, we will make our businesses competitive again and bring them back to our country, growing our economy, creating jobs, and resulting in bigger paychecks for American workers. The American people have been waiting for this kind of reform for years, and Republicans in Congress, working with President Trump, are going to deliver it to them once and for all.”
