Scalise statement on Senate passage of House flood insurance bill
Washington, DC – Congressman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement after the Senate passed a House bill to reform the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Act of 2012. The proposal now heads to the President’s desk and provides Louisianans with serious, long-term solutions to the unworkable BW-12 flood insurance rate increases.
“With today’s Senate action, we finally have a real solution in the long-fought battle to provide relief to millions of homeowners who are facing skyrocketing flood insurance rates because of Biggert-Waters,” Scalise said. “I look forward to President Obama’s quick signature of this legislation and FEMA’s effective implementation of these much-needed solutions. This victory could not have been achieved without tremendous hard work from the broad bipartisan coalition we built over the last year, and I thank our Senators for their continued advocacy on behalf of the House-passed bill.”
