Scalise Statement on Systemic Risk Designation Improvement Act

December 1, 2016

WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today issued the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 6392, the Systemic Risk Designation Improvement Act:

“We need to roll back the bailout mentality enshrined in Dodd-Frank’s 'too-big-to-fail' law that is crushing our community banks—the backbone of small business lending. Dodd-Frank's arbitrary and ineffective standards have crippled the ability of community and regional banks to make loans to job creators. House Republicans put together a plan that forces regulators to actually do their jobs, use measurable standards and assess risk based on factors beyond size alone. I commend Chairman Luetkemeyer’s leadership and hard work on this issue.”
