Scalise Successfully Blocks President from Raiding LA Coastal Funds in Budget
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) today issued the below statement highlighting that the House Republican Budget protects Louisiana’s coastal protection revenues.
“Our state fought hard for our share of the revenue generated from energy produced off of our coast, and I vowed to fight and protect those critical coastal restoration dollars in the House budget,” Rep. Scalise said. “In addition to helping develop a fiscally-responsible budget that balances, I also worked closely with other leaders in the House to ensure that Louisiana's coastal protection revenues from oil and gas royalties remained in the House Republican budget that passed out of committee earlier this week. Our budget stands in sharp contrast to President Obama's budget, which raids our coastal revenue sharing funds and threatens the fabric of our existence in South Louisiana. I will block every effort by President Obama to take away these hard-fought gains that are crucial to Louisiana's coastal restoration.”
